The populace was 1,142 in the 2010 census, a diminish from the 1,278 populace in the 2000 census. The town was incorporated as a town/city and the name was changed from Fletcher to Lake View in 1887. The present name was chose for the scenic view over Wall Lake. Lake View is positioned at 42 18 25 N 95 02 51 W (42.307049, -95.047394).
