The populace was 4,751 in the 2010 census, an increase from 4,526 in the 2000 census. It is part of the Waterloo Cedar Falls Metropolitan Statistical Area.

According to the United States Enumeration Bureau, the town/city has a total region of 4.12 square miles (10.67 km2), of which, 4.05 square miles (10.49 km2) is territory and 0.07 square miles (0.18 km2) is water. Evansdale began its existence in 1947, when the inhabitants of the Home Acres and River Forest Area adjoining the east town/city limits of Waterloo and confronted with a common drainage problem, formed the Home Acres Improvement Association.

Situated in East Waterloo Township, Evansdale evolved from a several different sections that were developed.

However, his hotel company failed, and in 1928 William Fox formed the Home Acres Land Association and advanced the territory formerly owned by Wolf and some additional territory in Evansdale.

Other sections of Evansdale were advanced just before to 1941 but it was the building boom following the War that created the enigma that precipitated the incorporation of the city.

However, the program provided for a fresh start for the town/city with new housing and renovation to give Evansdale a new look. Evansdale is administered by a five-member town/city council and a mayor.

Who has served as a former Evansdale City Council member, and also previously served as a board member on the Waterloo Community School Board.

John Mardis served eight consecutive terms as mayor, which made him the longest serving Evansdale Mayor.

The ethnic makeup of the town/city was 94.8% White, 1.7% African American, 0.2% Native American, 0.5% Asian, 0.4% from other competitions, and 2.4% from two or more competitions.

There were 1,987 homeholds of which 31.2% had kids under the age of 18 living with them, 48.1% were married couples living together, 12.6% had a female homeholder with no husband present, 5.5% had a male homeholder with no wife present, and 33.8% were non-families.

The median age in the town/city was 38 years.

23.3% of inhabitants were under the age of 18; 8.5% were between the ages of 18 and 24; 26.2% were from 25 to 44; 27.9% were from 45 to 64; and 13.9% were 65 years of age or older.

As of the census of 2000, there were 4,526 citizens , 1,822 homeholds, and 1,260 families residing in the city.

The ethnic makeup of the town/city was 96.44% White, 0.77% African American, 0.18% Native American, 0.55% Asian, 0.07% Pacific Islander, 0.33% from other competitions, and 1.66% from two or more competitions.

There were 1,822 homeholds out of which 32.6% had kids under the age of 18 living with them, 52.1% were married couples living together, 12.9% had a female homeholder with no husband present, and 30.8% were non-families.

Age spread: 25.5% under the age of 18, 10.2% from 18 to 24, 26.7% from 25 to 44, 24.4% from 45 to 64, and 13.2% who were 65 years of age or older.

About 10.2% of families and 12.0% of the populace were below the poverty line, including 19.5% of those under age 18 and 11.3% of those age 65 or over.
